How would a P3-M 1.33ghz compare to a Via c7 1ghz Processor?

(Apologies - posted this in SFF but realised it's not really SFF specific.)

I've been searching for a way of comparing the expected performance of two options but I'm really struggling, can anyone help?

I'm considering two options, one is a fanless PC based on a Via CN10000 which has a C7 1ghz processor. The other is a laptop solution using a Toshiba Portege 3500 tablet laptop which has a PIII Mobile 1.33ghz.

Both would have 512MB of RAM and the same laptop hard drive but the CN10000 is a much newer board with presumably faster bus and memory speeds etc.

Any idea how these would compare? I don't need blistering performance but it will need to run XP Pro and provide a web server for single user access. I found that my old VIA EPIA mainboard with a 533mhz CPU was not up to the job.

My other reference point is my current laptop which is a Tosh Satellite Pro with a Celeron mobile 2.2ghz i think.

Most results show the C7 behind all the pentiums with notable exceptions being SuperPi and Encodage MPG -> DIVx which take advantage of the C7's built in capabilities. If the PCMark 2004 result is anything to go by then the P3 is certainly no less capable.

This leaves me with a question about how comparable a P3 1.2ghz FSB100 and P3 Mobile are??

A P3 or Athlon XP are far superior in most things to the via, even performance per watt.
The Via requires a seperate MPG decoder to handle that at all - before they would be choppy just playing a DVD! Of course there have been some advancements since then, ie DDR controller, etc.
If you get an XP mobile, they can run with a passive heatsink too at 1GHz. XP Mobile is an XP at lower voltage, same with P3-M I think though perhaps less cache too.
The only issue is finding a decent priced ITX board - assuming that's you're aim.

Thanks Rack - that's the kind of opinion I was hoping for.

The XP Mobile idea is interesting but I'm pretty much stuck with the P3 Mobile choice as the I'm only considering the Portege laptops because they're reasonably cheap on ebay (the touchscreen would be a real bonus for my project)
