Im thinking of buying a Gigabyte DS3/4 mobo & a E6300 chip. Without any overclocking, will this combination out perform my current P4 3.0ghz prescott + msi 915g neo 2 platinum?
And if so, by how much ?

if your getting a new GFX card aswell then it will. depends on the card really for gaming performance.
A new graphics card and more RAM will make a bigger difference.
Althought the faster and better CPU and mobo would help as well, just not as much for the same amount of £££
It will outperform your current setup, but depends what you are doing. Are you encoding media, playing games or just surfing the web?
What GPU do you have?
wot game u playing? cause halflife generally prefers a top cpu than a decent gfx card. 2 gig ram helps. I clock my 3700 to 2.7 when going into source and the difference is astounding
I have a leadtek 7800 gtx @ stock. 1.5gbddr2 crappy ram. im running vista, i have noticed that performance under vista with cs:source isnt all that good.
Yes, you should see a decent improvement.....and an even bigger one if you overclocked it ;)
If you got a motherboard that allowed you to run your RAM slower then your FSB, you could overclock further without the current silly cost of fast RAM.
Not sure if the DS3 supports that though.
