So can anyone spec me a system (dual core essential) that has no TPM chips or features; mobo, cpu, vga and hdd that is.

Any help atall would be much appreciated.

Not many motherboards come with one tbh. Not exactly sure why you think it's so evil, but whatever your choice.

If you want a system specced a price is a good starting point. Unless moneys not a problem then I'm sure IBM can rustle you a up a 600 processor super computer for a few million

well something along the lines of:

AMD X2 4200+/6400 Conroe
compatible mobo (£100max)
vga (£100max)
HDD (pref SATA/II)

Basically, my first requisite is non TPM, before price and performance. The only other stipulation is that I want dual core.

I still think you've been reading too many conspiracy sites. TPM is a just a hardware encryption key, which allows for much stronger encryption etc, you only really see them on laptops and in China.

Thanks Chuckskull, i'll check that one out. Perhaps I am paranoid, but I have a hunch this TPM is going to be a very bad thing for anyone who values the integrity of their machine. Apart from the DRM issues which is what first got me, this chip gives powers that be the means to effectively monitor, contol and interact with your computer, without you even knowing. Its like a backdoor hardwired into the machine. In the wrong hands that's a very powerful thing.

In Windows XP the chip is dormant (though one day they will patch that), but the new Vista will use its full potential.

Clunk, you forget yourself. A foon is merely a left handed spork. Compared to a skewpler, a foon is as week as 'My Little Pony'.
