    System software rollcall

    watcha,

specing a new system and I'm thinking what software I should (need) get. This is what I've looked at sofar, tell me if you know better (or cheaper) alternatives:

    XP Home
    Norton Ghost (backup)
    Partition Magic

So what system software lineups has everyone got, and what would be a complete arrangement, that covers every base?

By the way, I'm using my crappy PDA with broken touchscreen, so It may take a while to respond. Thanks very much!

I've been prefering the Acronis suite to Norton/PQuest.

As far as I can tell, the main difference between the two is there is little or no admin options on home. unless there are some proper (what MS call) 'Power User' options, like tweaking tools and system monitoring resources, I can't really justify the extra doe. Do you think its worth it?

Yup, Acronis True Image 10 is far far better than Norton in my opinion. Including the fact that it ain't from Norton.

Gonna get Ubuntu n put on separate partition, I'm never one to look a gift horse in the mouth :-)

Oralpain, what hardware firewall do you have? Must be pretty good if you don't need soft firewall?
