Question 965 board compatibility with old P4

    Hi there.

I was wondering if anyone might be able to confirm something for me.

I would like to purchase the MSI P965 Neo-F as an upgrade for my partner. However, I can't afford to buy a Core2 processor as well yet, so I wanted to be sure his current one will be OK with this board in the meantime.

I see the specifications state compatibility with P4s, but his is a rather old one - it's a 3.06Ghz model 524.

I'm fairly sure it will work, but would appreciate someone in the know confirming this.

If this particular board isn't suitable, could someone recommend an alternative that will take an Allendale/Conroe at around the same pricepoint?

    Many thanks in advance.
