    Fortron PSU questions

    Here are my specifications:

    AMD Sempron 3100+ CPU
    1.25gb DDR 400 PC3200 RAM (1gb stick and 256mb stick)
    XFX Geforce 7600GT XXX Edition
    DVD/ CD-RW drive
    9-in-1 Card Reader
    Mouse, Keyboard etc.

I have two questions is a FSP 400W PSU enough (ATX-400PNF i think) enough to run this?
Is a FSP 300W PSU enough (exact model number unknown) with 14A on the 12V1 rail and 8A on the 12V2 rail?

    Thanks for any help.

I ran a similar specd PC off a 330w Tagan (no fancy graphics though) and it ran fine - so you shouldn't have a problem with the 400w FSP. Not too sure on the 300 though - is there much of a price difference?

I won't be buying the 300W PSU, that's the one i already have. It's the 400W one i was thinking of getting. I have the model no. now- it is FSP300-60THA (1PF) and sorry for leaving out the harddisk before it is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 80 Gb model

The 400w will be fine, but personally for the £15 difference i'd be tempted to go for the 500w bluestorm, both are great psus but the 500w will run less stressed therefore queiter, cooler & more efficiently, also giving enough headroom for expansion rebuilds.

    see FSP @ Scan

PS The Seagates are great drives got the 320gb the other week.
    luck

Thanks for the advice but I don't really think the 500w psu is worth it as I doubt I will be upgrading this computer anymore after this and i'm not too bothered about noise etc as sound from my speakers will drown that out. I would just not be using the extra power. It's also £25 more, £58 instead of £33 so if the 400w model is OK I'll go with that one.

Either of those PSUs is adequate for your current set-up
