Bracket for holding a case under a desk

    Hi all,

Like the title of this thread, I'm looking for a 'U' shaped bracket to hold a computer under a desk. My idea is to have a file server for either an ITX or MATX computer in a HTPC case with a few HDDs slung under the desk tucked out of the way.

I've gone to some usual sites like ScrewFix, Wickes etc but none have anything suitable.

I could build a unit from wood, but would prefer the easy option of using my credit card (well the wifes).

Anyone have any ideas where I could get one or four?

    Cheers

Couldn't find the IKEA one, and the others wouldn't work with a flat HTPC case

Searched around on the web since I first posted and still can't find anything even remotely near what I'm after.

Sorry, forgot it was a desktop shaped case.

How about looking at AV places as well? Something like the brackets they use to mount a VHS/DVD under a TV on a wall?

B&Q, Argos, Currys or Comet might even have something like that

    sean,
do you have the motherboard already?
this is precisely the situation im in, and the one i intend to purchase is this:
    http://www.icp-epia.co.uk/index.php?...d&productId=77
as it is possible to use a 3.5" drive in this one.
it should be suitable for an epia board.
if you're adding a laptop hard drive:
    http://www.icp-epia.co.uk/index.php?...d&productId=78
    thats a half sized one.
then im just going to construct my own HDD caddy for the 4 spinpoints then route the sata cables in through a hole in the case.

    Hope this helps
    Steve

    Holy crap that's perfect.

In fact our situation is exactly the same, I'll be building a caddy for 4 or maybe 6 spinpoints as well.

My only issue at the moment, is powering the HDD's and finding an ITX motherboard with 4/6 sata ports. Unless your going USB2 on them all?

Saw that case on Mini-Itx.com - said it had been discontinued, obviously not...

How about using a drive cage like this for the drives?

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=352335

nice and compact, can be re-used in a tower in the future and with the screw holes on the sides, it should be dead easy to mount it under a desk (four strips of Mechano bent at 90deg should do it).
