    PSU, case and cooling suggestions

I'm just about to go ahead and buy:

    Asus P5B Deluxe
    Intel E6600
    Corsair 2x1GB PC6400 Dominator
    Sapphire X1950PRO 256MB
    Western Digital 250GB (WD2500KS)
    Samsung DVD±RW (SH-S182D)

To complete the build I need a case, psu and maybe extra cooling (-i'm going to be overclocking)

For the PSU I was thinking the OCZ 600W gameXstream. Do you guys have any other suggestions for psu's i should look into or have any experience with this one? Oh and do you think i should buy a 700W one, so if i do upgrade to an 8800 graphics card, or just upgrade, i won't need to upgrade the psu?

Case wise i was thinking the Antec Nine Hundred. Looks good with excellent cooling, but again i'm open to ideas about other cases.

As the Nine Hundred is already cooled pretty well, I'd probably only need a CPU cooler. (or do you think i'd need extra cooling?) Currently looking at the Thermaltake's Big Typhoon 120 VX which looks pretty good and has reasonable reviews. Would you recommend any other coolers? Or do you think the stock cooler with the E6600 will be enough for overclocking?

    Cheers,

    Jamie Salter

You cant go far wrong with seasonic, enermax and the new corsair PSUs seem to get some good reviews as well.

cooling...the stock heatsinks are fine for bog standard use, after that, they tend to be noisy and inefficient, if you intend to overclock, a decent cpu cooler is what you will need. Have a look at the Scythe ones, and the thermalright si-128 is an excellent cooler, even if it doesnt have the bling of the others

I'm a big thermalright fan their products always ooze quality. Have been looking at this Noctua NH-U12F for my conroe build early next year, it's been getting some good reviews. scan stock them i think.

Cases are always subjective but a nother decent mid range case is the Gigabyte 3D Aurora is pre modded to handle watercooling if needed. (as are many thermaltake cases)

Yup, thermalright are good - using their SI-97 on my Athlon 3200+

PSU wise - I'd advocated something like the Seasonic M12-700w if you are looking at the 8800 - OC3D did a review of it, found a 0% deviation on the 12v lines at full load

I had an SP-97 with a 92mm tornado on top of it, worked well, but was bloody noisy

I really like the look of the Noctua NH-U12F, slightly on the expensive side (£40), but if it's as good as the reviews say it is, its a bargain.

I'll take your advice Clunk and go for a seasonic, enermax or corsair psu. Need to decide which though - they all look good in the reviews.

I'm in a dilema with the cases - the Gigabyte 3D Aurora seems better than the Antec Nine Hundred, but then i prefer the antec's looks.

    Decisions, decisions...

    Seasonic s12

    Seasonic M12 modular jobby

    Corsair 620w modular

    Enermax Liberty 620w modular

All of those should do you fine

No idea about the Noctua heatsink, Im sure someone else has one and can comment though.

Corsair are made by Seasonic but don't have the noisy 60mm fan.

    Corsair 620 review - http://www.silentpcreview.com/article692-page1.html

    Seasonic M12 review - http://www.silentpcreview.com/article676-page1.html

The orginal Aurora didn't have good HD cooling. Not sure if the new one 570 has better cooling.
