i've got 1. I've modded it with 2 blue Cooler Master LED fans and a variable speed control knob

Seems to be fine. Had no problems at all with it.

I think this is one thread that is important to bear in mind that what you pay for is what you get.

Better quality = more cost simple as that.

I'm interested to hear from people with a Barton 2500@3200 (1.65v), NF7-s, 512mb Twinmos setups that can run Prime95 with no problems!

AND the people who are having problems.....

I worked at a company who used to sell these jobbies for £80 a throw

I've built a few systems with them too, and i have to say they're pretty poo. Roughly 1 in 20 went pop the first time you turned it on (admittedly it didnt do any damage to anything else though). The rest did work, but 1 came back as it couldn't power a XP2000, Elite Mobo, 2HDDs, CDRW, DVD, GF2 MX, 3 80mm Case Fans & 2 Cold cathodes.

Like TiG said, you gets what you pays for

I have one, plus I built a punter a rig based on one. My one is great, his isn't. Started acting up after a couple of months, randomly decides it doesn't want to start up.. when it's running it's fine though.

I stick with Enermax or Antec for my main system - for other systems, or ones I build (that of course, require far less load,) I go with cheaper PSU's.

    I don't recall ever using Q-Tech though.

The majority of people here say that the qtec is not the best of psu's. The same goes for ocuk i believe. Your better off with a cheap generic psu if cost is such a big issue.

These psu's pop and when they do they take other components with them

Yeah, interesting point - fan modding. Did people put lower CFM fans on?

If so then it doesn't suprise me that they failed - they probably aren't very heat tolerant.

Mine is pretty quiet, don't see a need to mod the fan, and to touch its never hot or even warm.

Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

    May I ask a naive question ?
You guys are into pushing things to the limit ?
What if I use mine ,if I get it tommorrow after waiting four days after payement for it to be sent, without thrashing it or my CPU ,your opinion of it going pop !!
    PS
One day I tell you the saga of buying what was described has a Q-tec from Micro Direct and getting a generic with fans at each not right angles wich my board needs there refusal to collect it and forcing me to pay "special delivery" and rumblings of giving me credit note.
