Having IDE probs.......

The only devices I use on IDE are 2 x DVD writers.

They work fine on the first disc, but if I take it out any put any other disc in it freezes explorer and I need to reboot.

First question is - could you tell me what device manager says about what driver your primary IDE is using?

Any other suggestions on what the problem may be?

Hardware/cabling problms are ruled out by testing on other systems.

Well I'm not an expert on computers but had a similar problem because my CD drive wasn't set to DMA, when set to PI0 mode and the drive being used, typing this post to you and the screen would be catching up with the keyboard.
Hope there is a clue in this for you.

ooops.........all sorted now.....some rogue software removed and its all fine!
