Akasa AK-961 cooler - basic installation help needed

Sorry for the stupid question, but does it matter which way round this cooler is fitted? Just got a new Core 2 Duo and this is my first socket 775 m/b (been a while since I could afford to upgrade), so I was surprised to find out that there is no frame on the board, and the cooler retention seems to fit the holes in any direction. Do the heatpipes need to point upward to the roof of the case, or do they point to the front?

The supplied installation guide isn't very clear and I can't find a picture of an attached one online. I tried to go by making the logo on the sticker in the middle read horizontally, but it sits at the diagonal.

Not sure about this specific cooler but I think they are designed to be fit any way round so that the heatpipes are out of the way of the bits and bobs on your mobo (i.e. if they are close to a couple of capacitors one way round, just swivel it round till they aren't). as its a top-down fan it shouldn't matter in terms of airflow which way you point it

Cheers Redsky, I've slotted it in so that the heatpipes were facing the least cluttered way - which happens to be towards the front of the case. I was just worried that it needed to be slotted in a certain direction and I'd get it wrong. Just need my RAM to arrive tomorrow and I can find out if it all works or not.

I think it's best to have heatpipes rise as near to vertical as possible up from the spot being cooled because they are more efficient that way.

Then again I have been told that they work by capillary action rather than convection and so work any way up. But I don't believe this...
