Was wondering if there are any motherboards available which will house 2 Xeon woodcrest core cpus. Really looking for the most cpu-intensive setup for my CAD workstation without having to resort to buying a mac-Pro.
Anything out there?

you mean 771 not 775, right?
then there's http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...=132&OrderBy=1
but i would strongly, strongly, STRONGLY recommend buying from a vendor, with a support contract, if you need a high-end workstation for work. consider companies like armari.
Intel are releasing Xeons based on the Core 2 Duo (memrom) architecture on the LGA775 platform - which I'm guessing he's referring to...
are releasing?
xeon 51xx chips (woodcrest core, based on core 2 duo) have been out for yonks
they use lga771, as per http://www.intel.com/products/proces...kprodbrief.htm
deskop chips & server chips don't use the same sockets.
The key difference being LGA775 platform versus 771. Think Opty/Athlon divide and you get the general idea.
The problem I can see is that 775 (correct me if I'm wrong) won't allow the use of ECC Ram, and as such would be nigh on useless in a Dual Processor environment?
Yeah I actually hadn't thought about that Dave. Well spotted. I was hoping to save a few bob by going down the LGA775 route. I might aswell just go with my original idea and get a conroe instead.
