What case for my upgrade.. Please

Well my big upgrade is in jan/feb and my wife said she would buy me a case for xmas for about £50.

Well my system is going to be e6300, arctic freezer pro, P5B deluxe, and corsair psu. I have two local shops whose prices are mostly dearer than scan, but sometimes cheaper e.g. the Antec P180 (£5 cheaper)........so I can save on delivery costs for one item (not enough posts for free del from scan).

Does anyone know if these cases (listed below) have enough room for my proposed components and which is the best one (or best value).

Jeantech phong II.....£49
Antec SLK3000B Super Mid Tower Case....£30
Antec NSK6000 Super Midi.....£38
CoolerMaster Centurion 5.........£38

Well if no one knows for the "cheapies", can I go wrong by getting the Antec P180 for £86?

You've basically got enough posts for free postage.

I have to say I've heard good things about all of the cases, I'd say it all really comes down to personal preference.

Well I forgot to add I'm going to overclock the e6300 (not to extreme) but overall I don't care what case, as it's going to be stuck under my desk and fed a CD/DVD now and again

So I would rather be the monkey than the organ grinder for a decision.

i got the p180 and it's great, there are a few things to watch out for if you get it though. The PSU cage is quite small and because it's at the bottom of the case you might need power cable extensions (i did). If you plan to use the upper hard drive cage then you might struggle to fit a really high end graphics card in, you might need to remove the cage completely for something like a 7950gx2 or an 8800 gtx.

It is really nice and quiet though and it looks nice too

Cases are really personal preference and depend on how much you have to spend. <£50 -qualitywise the Antecs you have listed are decent, even the cheaper SLK3000B.

If I were you then I would get the P180 if you can afford it; if not then out of what you have listed - the NSK6000 or the Jeantech phong II (Is Niiiice) <Borat Voice Needed!>

Well I have only bought one new case in about 12 years and that was a cheapie for about £15, and have just made do in upgrades with what's lying around or given to me, for my two computer systems.
So I have a good excuse to treat myself to a nice case, and if members are not sure what cheapy case to pick in my list, will go for the Antec P180.

Those are all pretty capable cases

An alternative to the centurion would be an 'Aerocool Baydream' if you can find one, same price and similar looking but without the funny side bars and with BTX-style upside down configuration, which at various times is a good thing, a bad thing and a neutral thing.

The only one I would add is the Antec Nine Hundred - cheaper than the P180, not as celebrated but it looks exactly like how I think a case should look (YMMV ).

www.x-case.co.uk have a huge selection of cases to browse, but I have never bought from them so I can't comment on service.

Well the money is not the problem, it's just my philosophy in buying anything.......why buy a Bentley if a Mercedes or BMW will do, and if members said a XXX psu is just as good as a corsair (in my list) and cheaper, I would get that.

Anyway thanks and it looks like the Antec P180 gets the vote so I will get that.

Well the Antec Nine Hundred - Ultimate Gamer Case- no PSU - 3x120mm and 1x200mm fan is £69.......now my first thought is why anyone would pay another £19 for an Antec P180?

Mostly for cosmetic reasons I would have thought! Again; down to personal taste etc.

That's exactly my philosophy, except I drive a skoda

As to why the P180 is more expensive than the Nine Hundred, I would guess it's because a lot shiny more metal goes into the finish of the P180 - it is a very nice case - and cosmetically the P180 is a lot more mainstream and conservative. In my opinion though the Nine Hundred is stunning, and I don't remember reading any bad reviews of it (though it hasn't become the famous benchmark the P180 has been. It is a newer case though.)

I've used a Centurion 534 and a Gigabyte 3D Aurora in recent builds but I'd go with the P180 if I was you. I've heard rumours about a P190 but no ETA as yet. I don't think it will differ radically from the excellent P180 though.
