    Intel dual core memory

Does anyone know if you can run 2 single sticks of 1GB DDR2 (crucial 10th anniversary) as a dual channel pair on an Intel board with a core2 duo. Would appreciate any help on this.

As long as both sticks are from same maker (make/model) and DDR2 then yes im sure will be fine.

Don't even have to be that - same speed, timings and volts *should* be enough, but same make/model will definitely work.

Reason is that overclockers have the only kits I can find but they have upped the price quite a lot which just annoys me (fair play to them as they are still getting sold). I have found another supplier that has some 1GB modules in stock which would work out £30 cheaper. Is it worth the risk though ?

Yes. £30 cheaper, is always a winner

That was a VERY limited production run by Crucial IIRC so you should have no problems. You can be guaranteed that they are Micron ICs and most likely the DIMMs are the exact same revision, PCB, etc.

Let us know if it works well and if there is any telling info on the DIMMs themselves. This is a VERY good bargain find if the DIMMs are the same.

Thanks for all the help but I bottled it and bought the Corsair 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400 (TWIN2X2048-6400C4D) DOMINATOR from e-buyer. I couldnt resist and reports on forums suggest these will boot up no problems with the Asus P5B Deluxe. So Yellowbeard will I have any problems as this is my first Intel build but I am looking forward to it.

You should have no problem at all, great combo. We have several running in the lab and they love the Dominator stuff. Let me know if you have any issues.
