Can you get into safe mode and use System Restore?

Can you post all of the specifications of the new system, especially the PSU with the piercing noise coming from it.

I'm not familiar with that PSU. Can you find the manufacturers info and post a link. Also, I would not power it on again since it is squealing. Is it a VERY high pitched sound like a wonky television or, is it the internal fan hitting something inside the PSU?

I cant post as on my mobile. The noise is not massively load and stops when the machine powers up. It makes the noise when its switched on at the on p s u button

Anything other than fan noise from a PSU is BAD. RMA the PSU and don't power it on any more, you could damage other components if it fails catastrophically.

Its about 2 years old. Is it the p s u then as it was working fine before the windows update. I suppose i could try a new supply unit. But more expense if its a board problem. It just dont make sense

A Windows update will not cause your power supply to fail. It's your gear but I would NEVER use a PSU that is making a noise like that. As I said, it can blow up (literally) and the resulting power discharge can damage your MOBO, CPU, memory, GPU, etc. Do you have a local PC shop that could test the PSU for you?

Ok. Not the psu but i have got a new one. I think its the graphics card but wont know until tomorrow probably. Its annoying as i hope it has not screwed my new system up. I did put old mobo back in but same so i think my card must have blown as power still getting to it
