June is quite a way off, the new ATI cards are supposed to due in Feb and I would guess a refresh of the nvidia 8800 would have taken place by then also, so it would be easier to make the choice closer to the time of purchase

I was choosing an upgrade grahics card at that price point the other day. The one I settled on was this:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=499273

Bear in mind that I don't buy ATI any more, so there may be an ATI alternative that would suit you better.

Yeah it's pointless answering now, because in June the situation will be completely different

If you were buying now the choice would be between a x1950pro and 7900gs

That is the effect of the 8800 series cards becoming avalable.

I am quite supprised at how cheap the 8800 cards are getting. They are almost down to the price I would consider paying for a GFX card. Does anyone know if any sort of re-hash or die shrink is likely on the 8800 cards in the next couple of months?

Yep, more parts in february - probably mainstream versions.
