MX518 side buttons and Half Life2

My Logitech MX518 has suddenly started to behave weirdly in Half Life 2 - I have the side buttons (mouse3 and 4) assigned to reload and gravity gun for easy switching but after sometimes an hour, or sometimes 20 mins of playing, those buttons stop responding and I have to reassign the keybaord to those functions....

as soon as I am back in windows, the mouse buttons work fine (fwd and back on browser for e.g.) I am runnning SetPoint 3.1.

Also noticed that GRAW failed to pick up buttons 3 and 4 when I was trying to assign them to functions..

Didn't have this problem before with the mouse on my laptop, not sure what it could be. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas, maybe roll back to an older version of Setpoint, or close it alltogether?

I sometimes had a problem in CS:Source with my 518 and previously my 510, but never in HL2.

I 'fixed' it by removing the logitech drivers and hey presto full functionality in games, without any issues.

Not sure why it does mess up, but hey for me if it now works, it's job done.

i have a similar problem with cs source and my mx510

i solve it by going into my mouse software and binding my side buttons to a keypress of F10 and F11

in cs they are then just detected as F10 and F11, proble solved

I've never had a problem with my MX-518 and I play both HL2 and CS:S quite a lot. I also use the SetPoint drivers so it all seems a bit strange...
