Fully Buffered RAM

Can unbuffered ram be used with xeon 5100 processors? I keep reading conflicting advise, some sites saying the motherboard will be backward compatible and others saying it just simply won't fit?

The motherboard I have is a Gigabyte GA-7BESH-RH based on the 5000P chipset.

i think it depends on the brand of unbuffered ram used, i wouldnt advise it though.

it's a chipset issue, not a processor issue

but blackford (5000p) requires FB-DIMMS
