Mechanical Keyboard

I'm after a mechanical keyboard (without the numpad), for a decent price. The filco's are too expensive :/
I'm after either mx brown or mx red's, prefer browns.
I've been looking at the CM quickfire rapid and it seems to fit the bill, but does anyone have any first hand experience with the board?
Or any suggestions on other boards?

Have a look at Das keyboards they are quite good.

I got a filco and as you say they are expensive but Worth the money.

You have to think long term. mechanical keys last about 20 to 50 million keystrokes compared to the membrane type keyboard of about 10 million tops.

Get a filco tenkeyless with brown cherry keys and you`ll be happy

Any keyboard with cherry switches should have the same lifetime.
There may be advantages to Filcos but the actual switches should be identical.

I've got a Corsair k60 and really love it. Even spilt drinks on it twice and it's survived....

Definitely worth at least a look.

I've just bought a Ducky 9008 G2 Pro 'tenkeyless' keyboard from CCL (bit of an early Christmas present to myself!):

It was quite expensive (£99), but I really wanted a keyboard with Cherry red MX switches, a UK layout (including larger enter button), and white keys (my eyesight isn't good enough for black keys, & I'm no touch-typist!). After trawling the net for some time, this was the only one I could find. It comes with a key-puller and red WSAD buttons, and those are also lit by LEDs. It includes basic multimedia control too.

If your set on browns/reds then the CM boards or the Corsair K60/K90 are your only real affordable options.

I'm typing this on a Steelseries 6Gv2, which is a nice option at a pretty good price (mine cost less than £70) for a fullsize mechanical. I didn't think that MX Blacks would be that good, but I go used to them pretty quickly.

I Just bought a Logitech G710+. Just an hour ago.

Comes with Win 8 software, too. *But* a) although fully UK spec, is not available (yet) from normal retail outlets, b) is stupidly expensive, ie. >£100

The CMStorm QuickFire Rapid is a solid board, with Costar OEM (The same OEM that manufacture Filco boards). Scan were selling for £54 a while back, but I'm not sure they still sell it at that price.
Keycaps are ABS printed, stabilisers are Costar.
