    256mb GT or 512mb GS?

    hello, and a merry christmas to all of you

    i was just wondering which was the better option, an nVidia 7600 GT (256mb) or a 7600 GS (512mb). As they are moer or less the same price,

    Very easy - the 7600GT.
    The 7600GS will be slower than the GT, and giving it more memory will not change that (since the memory doesnt slow it down in the first place).

    The above of course is true assuming you want to play modern games. It is theoretically possible to do some sort of CAD/CAM work where the extra memory would benefit you more than speed, but i've made an assumption there.

    well im only going to be using it until may/june anyway, so i was tempted by the GS because it was cheaper, but hearing that the GT is faster i am a bit more tempted by the GT now. thanks guys, and a merry christmas to you all
