Ripping DVDs

I got a multimedia player for Xmas, one that you can stick an HD in and it'll stream your music and DVDs to your telly, what I was wondering is, 1) is it legal for me to rip my DVDs to this device, for personal use and 2) is there any software out there that I need, possibly that can compress the files, whilst maintaining visual and aural quality?

Well whether it's legal or not is not the problem it's whether the copyrite owner is going to bother to come to your house and check to see if you are doing anything illegal, and then apply to the courts for a warrant for your arrest if guilty.

As long as your are not setting up a business selling copies, or downloading pirate stuff, I personally wouldn't worry, afterall you did buy the DVD in the first place and it's for home use.

Thats like saying "Well whether or not its legal to stab someone isn’t the problem, its if you get caught that’s the issue".
It's illegal im afraid buddy, and we have to step on the side of caution on here im afraid. After all HEXUS is some people’s livelihood
