    Icy Box Question

    just a quick question

i've got several icy boxes - both SATA and IDE and i was wondering if they can only be used for hard drives.

i could be doing with using one to power a CD-RW but im not sure if it will work

any ideas before i give it a go?

not sure if it would power the drive, can't see why not but how would the drive open and close? and a standard drive would be too big.

There is only one way to find out really isn't there...

In theory if it can supply the correct voltages to the HDD then it should also be able to supply the correct voltage to the CD (as they both run on the same power connection I'm assuming they use the same amount of power).

I need to get an Icybox, are the good plugandplay/hotswappable drive caddys?

im not actually going to fit it inside the icy box, just use the IDE cable and the 4 pin molex
