Vista going to be a flop like the PlayStation 3 and Windows millennium?

is McIntosh going to end up winning and taking all the media markets? who wants a piece of bloatware full of corporate consumer barriers? When are they going to make a friendly version for high-end users that know what they are doing with a PC and use it professionally?

Erm, calling the PS3 a flop seems a little premature don't you think.

Personally I think vista will do quite well once it's settles down (after a few patch releases). I do think xp will be around for a while though.

I think Vista could be good for Linux when it pisses off even more people.

PS3 hasn't even been fully released yet.

is McIntosh going to end up winning and taking all the media markets?
    No.

who wants a piece of bloatware full of corporate consumer barriers?
No-one, but at least Vista isn't this.

When are they going to make a friendly version for high-end users that know what they are doing with a PC and use it professionally?
    They have.

Vista is going to be a great success. It took me a long time to warm to XP but now I can appreciate it quite a lot better. Vista has me quite excited from the go, and it'll probably be the shortest time from release to purchase for me out of any OS so far.

I like Vista. It's smoother, more secure and sexier than XP, which I really dont mind as an OS - what other decent choice is there when you game? Mac OSX? Any Linux kernal?

No I don't think so. Vista will do well I believe, same as XP

I would think Vista's going to do okay too.. I've used it, I liked it.. I imagine it'll get a take-up amongst home users before businesses but once they start shipping business PCs en masse with Vista pre-installed it'll become as widespread as Win2k and XP did..

JMHO of course, I'm not noted for my psychic powers.

Vista will sell well - for the reason that in a few months, virtually every new brand name PC will come with it installed, and most consumers aren't going to say "no, I don't want this shiny new one, I want the version of Windows that's several years old please". They will use the computer with whatever it comes off the shelf with, regardless of any restrictions or whatever it may come with.

Most people will just accept them and live with them.

Personally, I haven't seen anything thats put me off Vista. I'm probably going to give it 4 months to get going and a few bugs ironed out that get discovered, then I will be buying - Vista ultimate most probably.

I reckon Vista will be what all PC users are using within a couple of years. Most gamers will have it before '07 is out. The only late comers will probably be businesses who have to spend a fortune to replace all their XP/2k machines.

Its really good, but I think it may take a couple of service packs until people are confident in it. But like XP, it might have a bit of a dodgy start, but it will eventually become the most commonly used OS. And MS won't have it any other way.

I personally am looking forward to it because it will let me use DX10 when the right games come along, its meant to be more secure, and it has some features that will help too, like better hard drive searching and stuff.

Having your consumer rights being stripped from you isn't a put off?

That's a little harsh, Gentoo is an enthusiast distro, Ubuntu (or some other 'easy to use' binary distro) is a more likely example for average joe.

I know, well not in massive enough quanities, but when broken drivers and applications piss enough people off we should get a good few more :/
