I think a 19" Monitor would be a better investment especially for gaming. I don't really keep track of LCD's but I've seen a lot of offers for HannsG and Acer in the past for 19" 'Standard' (5:4) and 19" Widescreen (16:10) monitors for just over £100. This is from the likes of Amazon etc and tend to get good feeback. Dell also do special offers from time to time. Their 19" Ultrasharp was just under £200 until recently but I'm sure other members will know some other place you can get them from (at a similar price).

Take a look at Scan's and Komplett's monitor pages, you can get a lot for up to £180. For £200 you can get a really high spec LG on Komplett, I saw it only 2 days ago...

If you can stretch your budget up a bit, though, you could consider getting two cheap(er) screens for dual-monitor stuff. Not admittedly fantastically useful for gaming, but GREAT for everything else...

for gaming, i'd recommend the Hanns-G 19" from Dabs:
    This one

It gets raving reviews, and comes in at the bottom of the budget.

17" LG has had some good reviews for the price but as silentvoice said 19" would be a better option

    for example

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=478289

    19" Daewoo Wide screen

    or

    19" LG

It also has a DVI input which the Asus does not.

For about 200 euros you can get an LG 1919S these days. Not bad and I like the zero pixel warranty

The poor guy said he wanted a 17 inch monitor? Why is everybody so keen on trying to get everybody to spend hundreds when they scrape their cash togethor, and give you a budget... Which usually will be the most that they're able to go..

LOL, you're right. I guess I just get carried away. This is the dream hardware section isn't it?

I have had an AG-Neovo 17" for ages now. It had a stated 16ms and cost nothing. It has been a great monitor and is absolutely blur free in games and DVD's. No DVI but I guess thats not serious.

because you are more than able to get a 19"er for the 130-180 he specified.

also, if people genuinely think spending a little more would be worth the while i don't see any harm in suggestions.

id go for the Asus patata. but definetly a widescreen one as you say its for gaming.. its the future!
