c'mon people, please! I'm really stuck here!
sounds like the cd is messed up m8. is it a new copy or is it one of those thats been lying under a bowl or something?
nah it's completely clean. in fact, it just booted up in my other computer. tried it in two different CD drives in the new computer as well, no avail. Windws Vista CD booted up though? Could it be something to do with the bios not being completely up to date? Thanks
could be, u can put the bios on usb stick and update it without windows isntal?. Or do u have another prev instal on there at the mo? Maybe try a cmos reset, bat re seat. Sounds like an odd prob considering its working fine in another pc
is the CDROM set as the first boot device? Ive had probs sometimes when its not set it to first boot device and hey presto it works
well, it's a brand new system, so it's blank. I'll try updating the bios but i just don't understand why the cd won't boot! yep the cd is the first boot device...could the new computer just not be able to read the cd?
change cdroms if possible and perform the install from there :D
Have you any old win95/win98 CDs around you could try?
I've booted up from the floppy drive and installed win3.1 a few times in the past, just to get the computer working and to see what's going on with a problem computer.
hey guys,
well i'm sat using it now, with XP x64 installed. booted the cd first time and intallled in like 10 mins. what the hell?! it just won't boot up the XP x86, nor Vista, from which i'd like to install Media Centre. Is there any way of updating the program that starts the boot from a cd? I can't for the life of me understand this!
after a quick google it looks like it could be a reading issue between the cd and the drives, is it a genuine cd ? if its a 'backup' then try writing it at a slower speed
ahhh okay, that might be something. It's a copy of a friends. Is this a new sort of protection thing? Cos it worked fine in my old computer. What did you google? thanks by the way!
just googled the error msg, i have had a simular problem at work where we needed to burn the images we use at a slow speed so the drives could read them ok.
