Graphics card for gaming pc - under £180

Hi,

I need a graphics card for a pc i am going to be building soon. I am going to buy my bits off ebuyer.

i want it to be under £180 and be able to play BF2142, CS:S and Flight Simulators!

X1950Pro / 256MB X1950XT I'd say.

The Radeon X1950XT should be around your price range.
But if your an avid gamer and willing to go a little higher, it might be worth having a look at the 8800GTS and wait for the next price drop which should happen very soon.

if you want one now the X1950XT or maybe a cheaper 7950GT / 7900GTX as ive seen them on offer @ £150-190

if you would wait then the 8800gts/ 8600 should be out somehwat soon!

For £180 you cant beat the X1950XT - forget the pro - the XT is just an XTX with lower clocks - the pro has loads of shaders disabled aswell as a lower clock.

as far as I am aware the XT overclocks quite well though for most games an overclock is simply unnecessary

The G80's should have a significant price drop when the R600 is released by Ati. This is to stay competitively priced since it will be old tech by then.

As for your question. It should be released very soon hopefully, around mid Jan - Feb, though these are estimates only.

If you can't wait till then, then just get what you can now. The X1950 are excellent for its price and performance.

The X1950XT is your best bet right now unless you can wait till feb for Ati's response to the 8800's, which should force a price drop.

If you can up the price, the HIS version is rumoured to be good re heat and oc.
