Im just wondering what my maximum stable CPU overclock will be roughly.
I have a E6300 with stock cooler,
2x512mb PC6400 RAM,
I was thinking around 2.2ghz would be easily easy to get up to, not 100% sure though...

According to some reviews your motherboard is good up to a 325FSB, so that'd be 2.275GHz, while others say a 415FSB so that's 2.9GHz...
Only way to know is to try.
i dont know how...so im getting someone from the forums to come down and help me :)
Just change the cooler dude
why? im not overclocking to near 3 yet. so i dont need to
Ill be surprised if 2500 is out of the question, even with the stock cooler, I had a 6300 and it went right over 3ghz at less than stock volts :)
ok but for £14 why not
Thats an impossible question.
No two rigs are identical (even if the components are the same).
Its just 'suck it and see' time im afraid.
Also depends on what RAM that is, what mobo you have, what PSU you are using.
ALL these are a big factor in your Overclock.
If you want good results though, lose the stock cooler for starters.
No its not, I gave a perfectly valid and 100% accurate reply. I admit it was about as useful as a chocolate teapot, but then the question wasn't exactly full of enough information. Tell us what the individual coponents maximum stable overclocks are, and we can hazard a pretty good guess :)
But yes, generally, its pretty much, suck it and see

Depending what temps your are prepared to live with you should get 2.8 Ghz or beyond with minimal effort.
Just don't go crazy from the start, give it a go in small stages and test stability at each point, use a decent monitoring programme like TAT to give you a reasonable indication of temperature.
Chks
ah yes, and my cpu won't overclock as much as it did in the first week :) Go easy on it lol.

This is the first CPU i've had which i've overclocked without a burn in period, and its also the first that has had its max overclock get lower, but that could be down to wife turning up radiators, warmer weather allsorts, so i've kind of taken it relatively mild now - may well get a new cpu next year, not planning on it though
