It does the job
SATA > PATA
i went from SCSI to EIDE and SATA combo recently and while Im pleased with the hard disks, I'm less than impressed with the optical on EIDE.
My SCSI stuff was only 16x speed and it killed these 52x EDIE's.
And besides....I'm having trouble finding newer drives that will back up some of my music CD's, whereas my older Liteons wil replicate ANYTHING at all.
I've got 3 Liteon drives and 2 Sony drives (all CDR/CDRW and DVD read only) and recently got a DVD writer and I've got several CD's that none of them will replicate. BUT the old Liteon does a grand job.
(Legal Note: CD's stay at home in my safe CD storage, and the replica goes with me in the car, where it gets dropped on the floor by accident, hence replica's)

I'm well pleased with my liteon, no issues so far.
I had that same burner, no burn proof, it was nerve racking
