P.s. That said, maybe an nvidia card would go better with the nvidia chipset? who knows...

Just as a quick thing, if you do get a single slot graphics card and find it to be getting a bit hot/noisy, I was looking at a thermaltake vf1 cooler, which i *think* will fit in the case...there is some space between the back side of the graphics card and the case.

Right, how does a E6600, 2GB Ram, and an 8800GTS sound? (and only £50 overbudget )

Good effort, but I'm afraid I don't want a Sugo - need to minimise size so has to be shuttle shape - see original post.

Thanks very much, though, impressed with the CPU and GPU you put in there..

    I'll keep fiddling.
I've got another spec on the way in a couple of mins!

Sugo is the smallest case short of paying extortionate shuttle prices, but what the man wants, the man gets

Looks good! Almost the same as what i have. (i'd maybe go for the 256mb version of the gfx card and spend more on Ram...get some corsair XMS2, really!)

I already have the RAM (as of an hour or so ago), so that will have to be final now. It's a pretty good deal, I think.

    OK, my thoughts on Shuttle vs Sugo;

I wanted a small case, that's why I'm switching to SFF.
A Sugo is too big to carry around in my backpack between home and uni, so defeats the object and I may aswell get a full size case if I'm going to do that.

Also, when you factor in a PSU, motherboard, and possibly a soundcard depending on which motherboard you get, there isn't nearly as much in the price anymore.

So I think it has to be Shuttle.

    Another forum, not a store.
I'm keeping a keen eye on your 60/80mm fans thread, Tim!

    Are they that loud?

    Haha...

Nah not really, they just annoy me a bit. I will change them eventually, but only when i can be arsed to - it really isn't that big a deal.

To be honest, if you're looking at a shuttle, i would definitely go for either the sn27p2 or sd37p2. they really are the best around, pretty much in terms of everything - cooling, speed, space, support for 4 sticks of ram...they are the business.

    Any more questions?

    Not for the moment, thanks!

I'm going to shop about now, see what I can find, and then I'll post back shortly.

Thanks for all the help so far!

About your question on the x1950pro well im the proud owner of one

It is slingle slot, the cooler on it at boot up is well noisey but not ott. But once its got past boot stages it goes down to inaudible levels (well over my case fans, they arent loud though)

The x1950pro runs all my games happily at 1680x1050 with full detail + good level of AF n AA.

I would seriously take a good look at Dave's spec just up there as its the best i can see here and would take something amazing to beat it.

Excellent work dave, i hope you get the paypal pint

    You just want the Pint..

I seriously think that dave's is the way to go, a 6600 and a DX10 gpu will keep you with current games for along time to come.

Oh and 2 gigs of ram nice
