    PSU question

Hi again chaps, I was recently given a low noise 300W PSU, I have two questions:

will it be beefy enough to power a new system i'm putting together (basically an AMD Barton running on an NF7 v2.0 Nforce2 mobo)? or should i be thinking more along the lines of 350-400W?

secondly to test the psu i simply powered it up to the mains, the psu's internal fan did'nt come on, no power? is this simply because its not physically attached to any peripherals?

    advice most welcomed

From what I've been led to believe, its more about the brand, and the quality of, than the power.

I'm sure most, if not all people on this forum, would take a 350w Antec, Enermax, Sparkle, or other quality PSU, over a 550w cheapo model, such as a Q-Tec, or similar.

get a 2 or 3" piece of wire and connect the green wire and the black wire 2 wires away on the atx connector, they will be either side of the retention clipthis gives the psu a signal to power up
