Sata Raid

Hello there,
I've been having problems installing RAID 1 with 2 hard drives.
My motherboard is an Asus A8n-vm csm

and my 2 hard drives are a Deskstar 7K80

I have enabled sata raid in my bios and have created my array through F10.

When I am installing windows (fresh install) I install the 2 nvidia raid drivers through F6.

I then get an error saying that windows could not locate any hard drives.



I have tried the nvidia raid drivers that came on the cd and I have also tried the drivers from the nvidia web site.

I have also loaded the latest bios.

Anyone know what the problem could be?

Any help is greatly appeciated.

did you load ALL the drivers off the floppy? its been a while since i messed around with raid, but i think on mine, theres 3 seperate drivers that you need to load off the floppy, and after you have loaded the first, there should be a prompt on the screen to press "the whatever key" to load more drivers.

Make sure you're loading the RAID drivers and not the base ones.

When the Windows installer loads the drivers from the floppy, what controller does it list?

I'm loading the Nvidia Raid Class Driver

and

Nvidia Nforce Storage Controller

I am using windows 2000 Pro.

do yourself a favour....kil the raid array for a moment,

Try installing Windows on just ONE SATA drive.

If it STILL wont work, you may need a Firware upgrade on your hard drives.

My Seagates gave me no end of arse ache with nVidia Nforce4.

I hope this is not being too bloody obvious, but it's the kind of thing that I need pointing out sometimes...so I'll plough on anyway.

Lets say you've got the array created....and you've got the XP cd in the drive

Have you got BIOS to boot fron Otical drive (CD)...so that you can create a partition and then format the array.

If not, XP wont see a disk at all.

Now....that's prolly bleedin' obvious...but I thought I'd lob it in

I am having the same issue but with the ASUS P5N-E SLI motherboard. I noticed that after enabling RAID SATA 1 & 2 then save, that they do not show up in the BIOS main screen anymore. After pressing F10, it shows my drives on different ports than want they are in the BIOS. Is this happening to you also?

Well I couldn't install Vista trial at first, just kept asking for the latest sata drivers (which I did, but still rejected them), so I installed winxp and Vista over it.........no problems.
