what memory to go with?

Hi

I’m not going to be clocking the memory at all and I was wondering what ram should I go for?

8500 or 6400?

Is there really going to be much difference in gaming?

What motherboard are you using?

Personally if you are not clocking the memory I would go for a good 6400 with low latency timing rather than the 8500

It'll be the Asus Commando

Well if it's the Asus, and you're clocking the C2D then get higher rated RAM if you can afford it so you don't reach a RAM bottleneck too fast

Having said that I have 1gb (2 x 512mb) of PC5300 that can do 1050MHz @ 4-4-4-15

If youre not overclocking, it is pretty much pointless buying much more than something like Corsair value select stuff.

As already said, if you do decide to overclock, the more expensive ram will do you fine.

well maybe i'll clock the ram with some help from the hexus members.... :mrgreen:

What CPU do you intend to use?

If you do decide to over clock the memory then Dominator is your best option especially in the Asus Commando PC8500 @ 1066MHz will clock better and more stable than PC6400 @ 800MHz

This is you best bet
