Still need mine to do bios flashes.
Unlees the is an easier way and I am a tard?? :D
i use windows utility called @BIOS came with my gigabyte board. never had ne trouble.
Still got floppy drives in my machines.
They're cheap, unobtrusive and useful.
When I finally figure out the advantage in not having a floppy drive, I'll probably change to USB removable storage media keyring thingies.
got rid of mine as soon as the windows chill control software came out for my vapo, althought still connect 1 up for bios flashes
yes but i havent used it in so long
I have one, but I don't personally use it. My sister uses it as she has Uni work that she needs transporting to and from their machines. If I had the choice I'd rip it out in favour of my USB flash drive
i thought id never have to use one again, then i got virused, the only thing that would bring it into dos to format was a floppy, they're indistructable, cheap and still widely used so ive just bought a silver one to match my case :D
to install windows on anything other than IDE needs a floppy drive.
so yes, I still have a floppy drive
what ever you use this floppy thing needs to be replaced.
I still have one to share between 3 PC's.
I try to use bootable CD's with tools on them these days, and t'internet & USB disks for moving data around.
I still use the floppy - whenever I reinstall i use bootable floppies to do whatever i need to do (partitioning, installing Windows...).
Yes.
I put a new one in my main rig today.
\\Chris
I own one.
They are cheap, and sometimes useful for certain things. Like for example, Today I was unable to send my Compting coursework from college to home via hotmail (thanks to its "permanent file block") thing, it won't let me download it. So I used a spare floppy to store it on, took it home and shoved it on my computer. Sorted!
Floppy drives are useful for emergancy boot discs, and the like.
Hey! They're only 5 bloody quid.
I have one for the same reason as directhex - that damn F6 for additional storage drivers in the 2K or XP setup - now that's REALLY what I call "building on the legacy of NT"... :P
