QUAD FX: Can you run a Socket F (1207) M/B with 1 CPU?

Question 1 above, haven't read anywhere you can't ... yet.

If you can these prices look better value than the AM2, or are the M/B mega expensive

All prices from scan today 2x 1MB Cache Retail:
    Socket F (1207)
    FX-74, 3.0GHz Core, £299.95
    FX-72, 2.8GHz Core, £239.00
    FX-70, 2.6GHz Core, £179.99

    AMD AM2
    FX 62 , 2.8GHz, £379.89
    5200+, 2.6GHz, £219.95

But than again an Intel Core 2 Duo might be better value still.

ok forget the Core2Duo for a second ...

    FX-72, 2.8GHz Core, £239.00 is alot cheaper that FX 62 , 2.8GHz, £379.89

But if you only buy 1 Socket F (1207) CPU will it work in a QUAD FX M/B (a board that is designed for 2 CPUs)
