I would start with take out the ram and just try it with 1 stick, make sure its in properly and try different slots.
Re-seat the cpu.
Make sure theres no thermal compound on anything apart from the top of the cpu and the bottom of the heatsink.
Take the board out of the case and build it all up on a piece of cardboard, this will let you check that there arent any shorts within the case.
Borrow a stick of low spec ram (1.8/1.9v stuff and boot to the bios with it, change the ram voltage to 2.1 (or whatever it should be) and save and power off, fit the proper ram and fire up.
Well then cpu is in properly, the heatsink in connected properly
and there is no thermal compound lose on the mobo. Also when I opened the RAM I noticed that it had been opened before because the plastic packaging was broken, anyway you could tell trust me. OOO yes it's from ocuk:mrgreen:
its possibly a return they've sent out again. most probably without checking. your about to enter a world of "paying for shipping to them with no refund-pain"
I think I have, if this is true and it is faulty then I am better off going through g skill.:undecided
My bad I got it to work:lol: the heatsink wasen't fitted properly
thankyou o great clunk for telling me to put in on a flat bit
Glad it's alive:woowoo:
must admit i always build "barebones" 1st - out the case minimum components. i find it makes trouble shooting much easier.
Excellent, no rma with the berks :)
dodged a bullet there!
?? what's berks:confused:Quote:

OCUK berks :) (I wasnt going to mention them in case people became offended and called me an ocukist :D)

Hehe :D
Discourage people by all means, but I admit it does bug me when people say "AVOID AT ALL COSTS!" "DO NOT BUY FROM THERE" "SATAN WORKS FOR OCUK!", etc :D
I'm personally annoyed by them myself atm with the horrific trick of getting Vista pre-orders in - they stated they'd be shipped on the 13th of Jan, yet when the 12th came around, shock horror, MS said they couldn't ship until the 30th... this after MS "gave us permission to ship early". What a load of crap. If that's the way they treat their customers, I'll be avoiding them for a little while...
minor thread crapping here, but no 72 i thought u were going with the team extreem memory?
Wow that took me a long time to install everything:mrgreen: ,
Ya I just turned on the psu's back switch and the lights came on, it wouldn't let me power on completely, but the error message on the lcd poster thinggy 'CPU INIT' did help alot!
And yes I was going to get the team memory but it wasn't in stock when I went to buy it so I went for the g skill (same chips I think) just a few more pounds.:)
I better go to bed now I have got school:mrgreen:
unlucky mate, g. skill HZ kit by any chance?
its a nice kit, ill try push my Extreem as high as i can get it, and see what i can clock to:D
