    Question Supermicro raid card

    Does anyone know if the following is any good?

    It is just a very basic card. It would be nice if you have a PCI-X slot, otherwise speed will be capped to about 55~65MB/s for the whole bunch of disks.

    If you don't have a PCI-X slot, buying 2x SIL3114 card will most likely end up cheaper

    Thanks, thought so.

    The motherboard i have has two pci-x slots, but i think they only run at 66mhz?

    Gigabyte 8KNXP Ultra 64

    I have also found the following

    IBM ServeRAID 8i SAS

    However, im thinking now of maybe getting an opteron board which has both a pci-e slot and pci-x and a cheap opteron off ebay.
