    Which c2d board??

Ok so this is my predicament, I've got 5 weeks to decide on which board to buy for my new rig, but theres so many I want but it needs to fit my criteria of sli with 8800gts and must overclock like a beast. So my first thought was a evga 680i but its a bit costly and I really like the look of the asus commando as I've heard you can get sli on it, but if I got the commando I would need to buy a sound card as I cant use the top I/O plate on my tower as Ive got my radiator barbs coming through it, theres also the dq6 and aw9d-max im interested in, so any more suggests??

Can I ask why you need 2x8800gts? 1 GTX would be faster, but even then you don't need that if you are gaming at 1280x1024 as your My System bit would suggest.

I'd say P5B Deluxe - it will let you overclock nicely, just no SLi (which as far as I can see - is a waste)

You could try the 650i chipset. It has SLI and overclocks well:

    http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2894

Why do you want 8800GTS SLI though, why not get one 8800GTX? I doubt the performance difference is that great as SLI is not hugely effective.

SLI is expensive and problematic, for little gain.

Get a single GTX as the others have said. Theres quite a few threads about this today, I would have a gander at those to get some ideas

Ok the reason behind me not getting a 8800gtx is purley the fact that I cant psyscally fit it in my case (gigabyte 3d) unless I loose a couple of hard-drives which Im not gona do, so when one 8800gts begins to strain a few months down the line I would be able to sli them and not strain. Oh any the monitors are running at 1990x400. And yes I know sli is a wast but I would purely like it for a fall back in the long run tbh.

If it were me, I would change the case, rather than be forced into buying potentially the wrong bits for the job.

    1990x400?

Mate, if I can game on my laptop with a 1680x1050 screen on an x1300, then you can manage with a single card - you don't need 2, its a waste of time....

I would but this case is the one I choose after spending many weeks looking for and is the only case I've found so far with twin 120mm fans on the back so I can fit a twin rad on the back and suck air through it as my case is about 15" away from a nice big window so it gets better cooling, there is a method to my madness, and when I bought it I didnt realise how big the 8800gtx was i just hope the cards get smaller not larger. So I'll forget about sli does that open the way for more mad overclocking boards.

Ok I think I've found a board which meets my needs and should be future proof for a while its gigabyte 680i dq6 mmmmmm, and it should cost around £180 apparently (I'll believe it when I see it), but if they can keep the overclocking success of the old dq6 then this one should be good.

All the stuff I read about the 680i boards seems to be about problems

Have a look at the Abit AB9. 975 based, and some crazy overclocks lately on them.

Ok after coming full circle and realising I don't actually need a 680i board yet, I'm quite taken with the asus commando as some of the overclocks its getting are amazing. But theres one tiny problem the hexus review says it doesn't support epp ram so would this ram not work with it and if so could anyone suggest something in a similar price bracket.

The Akasa Eclipse 62 is a big chunk of a case, it only has 1 120mm exhaust, however that's all it needs as it has a very clean airflow throughout the case, and a 120mm in the front where you can also fit a 120mm radiator if you ever need to fit 2 of them, which is unlikely. If you insist on using a dual rad for no particular reason, you could always get the dremil out mount it on the side or top panels *shrug*

EPP Ram will run on any board it just ignores it. I am running EPP ram in my 975X with no problems.
