Sn26p + 8800 Gtx
Hi,
Posting here, as I've not had an answer in the scan forum.
Does anyone know if the 8800GTX will fit in the SN26P chassis? I'm not after going SLI with it, but I have all the other parts already - I'll drop the water and Soundblaster.
Cheers...

Well you're either brave or stupid. But I dont think an 8800GTX will go in any SFF case without a grinder coming into play :P

Got a baby on the way, and a case covered in wires and water pipes on the floor + drooling crawling baby = lots of hours in casualty!

HOLY MOLY!
Just had an email from Shuttle. Not only does it fit, and is it able to be powered, but they also certify it as supported!

I wouldn't get too excited just yet, I stuck an 8800GTX in my SD37P2 last night and all is fine at default speeds, any attempt to overclock however is met with a lock up due to excess heat :(, I was hoping to get some overclock before I have to turn all fans up to full wack tbh.
Still it is a nice boost over my previous 7900GTO and more recently an X1950XT-X. At default clocks its also just as quiet as my previous 2 cards
I have seen people on SFF forums running them in an SN26P, but I'm pretty certain they upgraded their power supplies to the 400W version, so I am somewhat surprised Shuttle show it as compatible.
However it does make me wonder about sticking an 8800GTS in my SN26p :)

Well I'll let you know how it goes. To be honest, I don't really care about overclocking the card. I suspect that it'll be more than capable of running everything I want at 1920x1200 anyway.
I'm past caring about getting the maximum in 3dMark06 - which is why I ditched the watercooling setup I have and have moved to a SFF.

I'm no 3d mark saddo myself, I was more commenting on the heat generated by the card in a Shuttle environment, and my experience is it runs pretty damned hot, so it may or may not be a big issue for some.
just my 2c :)

Managed to get the card into the chassis with no problems. Initially it didn't boot - fans at max speed etc. Once I took out one stick of RAM, it posted into BIOS.
I've since added the RAM, and it _seems_ to be working fine. I started installing Windows last night, so I'm not 100% sure it's going to work perfectly.
More news as it happens.

Isn't this a bit like fitting a rhino in a bath?
A small, porceline bath?

Actually, it fits a lot better than I thought it would, there's a good couple of mm each side of the card
I managed to get Windows installed and started running 3dMark06 on it last night, but it crashed on one of the CPU tests. I'm guessing I need to flash the BIOS and add all of the latest Microsoft patches, but it's VERY impressive in the GPU tests!
More news as it comes.

OK, for posterity's sake. I managed to get the SN26P running with no problems now. All that was required was .1v added to the mem voltage in the BIOS.
It absolutely rips through everything I throw at it now. I just installed FEAR Extraction Point and Prey and they both run perfectly with all settings @ max and max AA/AF settings @ 1920x1200 - I've even turned on vsync in Prey.
The shuttle is fairly quiet even under load, and I've been able to overclock the 8800GTX to 630/1000 with no problems. I've backed off the overclocking now, as there is quite simply no need!

Wow- quite some powerhouse for something so small.
I personally dont like the amount of power these new, top of the line cards suck down, but the fact that you can is fantastic.
