I am getting no sound with the asus commando's pci-e card for some reason, I have installed the sound drivers for it and still nothing! the card is also not detected by windows.
I checked in the BIOS but there isn't much to help.

If windows isnt detecting it, it is either not seated properly, disabled in the bios, or it is buggered at a guess
Ya what I thought, I have set in the BIOS to defult and I still get nothing
Are there any jumpers on the motherboard for it? what does the manual say for troubleshooting no sound?
any problems showing up in device manager?
Nope no errors are shown, that I can see . There are a few pins on it but I think they are just for other out ports.
the manual is pritty crap to be honest, all it has is all the stuff it has (lcd poster thinggy etc..), how to install and the BIOS
Just ran burn in test v4.0 std and got this
5 cycles
operations 3.087 million
errors 293
error description= failed to play back MID via sequencer
it is probably pointless but it might help
1) wot speakers have u see manual on p 2-26 on how 2 connect speakers correctly.
2) Don't forget to set windows/ Soundmax audio wizard to match your speaker config.
Must admit to having no issues with sound which is better than my nf4 board.
luck
I am doing something wrong, because it is not detected full stop!:
could you go into your second suggestion in more death please suppershanks. I don't know what you mean
is there only one socket that it will go in?
The sound card that comes with the asus commando is pci-e, that is what I am talking about. It has nothing to do with what I am plugging into it though the audio jack's ect.
I don't know why, but it isn't getting detected
It is the sound card that is not being found.
I have installed the proper driver, I have double checked
piccy of the card and the board?
Have u checked that it's enabled in bios(advanced menu- onboard devices - HD Audio Controller) + the checks that Clunk has already suggested. with 2) have had issues myself in the past where xp/sound setup defaults to 2 speakers which does nothing until u select 5.1 which then works.
Piccy: Scroll down to audio It fits in the slot between cpu & 1st pci-e gfx slot in a slot that looks like a pci-e 1 slot
Ok I will try thanks for the help lads .

in this image here, have you connected front audio to the green pinout section?
if not you'll need to jumper the middle 2 and the right 2, as seen in the picture.
