Thinking of changing cases to an Akasa Eclipse 62 with the sidepannel with the fan. Is the side panel fan any good at cooling graphics cards? Also not sure what fans to get with it. Was thinking of two of these

Any comments on the case from owners would be welcome.
The Eclipse-62 is awesome although I'm not sure about that side panel as I have the window one. :D
As for case fans, I've kitted it out in the Sharkoon 1000s (CPC rave on about them) and I've gotta say I'm very impressed with both the airflow and the near silentness.
My question is, why the hell is the sharkoon 2000's noisier than the 1000's?!
I would get the 1000's if the 2000 is indeed 36db :/

2000s are noisier because they push a higher CFM :P
The 1000 is 1000 rpm and the 2000 is 2000 rpm so it's bound to be noisier.Quote:

Yeah I thought about a 1000rpm fan but I'm worried it won't be enough airflow.
I like to keep my raptor well cooled. That's why I was thinking of a fan controller so maybe I could run 2000rpm fans at like 1500ish or something if there too noisy at full speed.
My Raptor's at 29ºC. :D

I have an Akasa Mirage with two Akasa Amber Ultra Quiet fans running at 1500rpm. They are as quiet as mice. The Mirage's heat dissipation is so good that I could probably get away with just the Seasonic S12 430w psu and the Scythe Mine (on an AMD x2 3800) without any fans at all.
My cpu and system temperatures are 22C and 24C.
If you have not seen a Mirage/Eclipse in the flesh they are huge. I am not a gamer but if you want superb case cooling then look no further.
I omitted that the Akasa Ambers are 120mm.
Every Akasa Amber I've owned (4 of them) has made a high-pitched motor noise, very annoying.
i have a zalman 120mm it has a resistor with it to drop to 7v it is ok but not as quiet as the antec case fan that came with my sonata 1
I have an Akasa Eclipse 62 and a pair of Sharkoon 1000's.
The case is OK, although I expected better for the cost of it. I mean... its good, but it has no rubbery noise reduction bits on the hard drive bays. And my DVD ROM drive has a few centimetres gap all the way around the edges of it, and I can see inside my case through the gap. So it must screw up my air flow and dust reduction. Its a decent case though. I like that it has good room inside it.
The Sharkoon 1000's I would highly suggest not getting though. They are silent, but they dont seem to do much... Its basically like a warm summers breeze when you put your hand behind them. Its not exactly an air "flow" which I really needed in my case.... They just dont cut it. Unless you had about 4 or 6 of them or something, I just think they are a waste of money. If you had water cooling for your CPU, or a really good CPU fan, and if your memory, mobo chipset, and graphics card, all run at good low temps anyway... then the Sharkoon 1000's would be ideal, cause it just gets a bit of a slight draft going through the case. But if you have any hot stuff in there... get something faster.
The Scythe S-FLEX seems to be the fan most gamers are choosing at the moment. Its 1db louder than the sharkoon, but has much more air flow. I wish I got that instead of wasting my money on the sharkoons :( Or you can just get a big bad noisy fan with tons of air flow, and have a fan controller to find the sweet spot.
Acrobat - I'm surprised about the gap around the drive - have you contacted Akasa?
I would recommend you go for the Sharkoon 2000 fans in you're case (pun not intended).
The Noctua fans won the SPCR test but I'm not sure about the back pressure of that fan.
re sharkoon fans I have read about some of the bearings not settling as well as other fans, i.e. there is some audible resonance from them unless they are tilted

Nope, never considered it really because im not sure what they could do. I dont think its anything really wrong with the case. I just think its a bit of a loose fit kind of. The drive is securely in place, its just the gap. Its only a few millimetres but I can see light through the gaps. It may just be my cheapo DVD drive too. Im not sure if its affecting air flow really, but I suppose I could just put some cardboard in the gaps or something. Or maybe some thin strips of black rubber or something. BluTack or UHU White Tack IMO would do a good job as well as dampen any vibrations. Only problem is it's a bit sticky.
Ok I finally ordered the case with side panel with fan a black dvd rw and floppy and 2 silverstone 120mm 2100rpm fans and a silverstone fan controller. Should arrive next tuesday :D
Well the stuff arrived and when i opened the door to the citylink delivery chap my dog went out and started barking at him. All the colour seemed to drain from his face he wasn't happy. The next morning I got a call from citylink saying they refuse to deliver goods to me anymore coz my dog attacked him!
Hmm, interesting, thats gotta be a new low for CityLink....

Just about prefectly positioned.
With regards to the case..i really like it..apart from the silver thumb screws...so bloody ugly...i mean i know its the back and you rarely see it but i've changed mine for normal size black ones lol.
