Quick question about my power supply..
I have a generic 300w atx power supply.
I will be using it to power a p2 400mhz, 5 x 120gb 7200rpm harddisks (in raid 5 via seperate pci raid card), 2 x 6gb 5400rpm harddisks, and cdrom drive, matrox vga card and NIC. (i'm using an abit bh6 board as well if thats of any use).
Now, will the 300w psu be okay for all the above? This is just to be a file server, nothing else.

hmm maybe need a bigger one due to masses off hard drives

Look at the PSU and look for the max output rating as well as the Ampage figues for the various voltages, then look at what Intel recommends.
For the P2 400 it doesnt really use a lkot of power compared to the later processors but you are using a lot of hard drives a RAID 5 setup would be constantly powered and spinning too I believe.
I reckon on a 'good quality' 300W you should be OK but most generic PSU's are rubbish.
