Laptop Parts, LCD Inverters in particular

Just a quick question...

Does anyone know of any laptop parts suppliers?? I have an Acer TravelMate here with a dead LCD inverter... Unfortunately its just out of warranty.

So far I've been able to find people who will happily repair it, but no-one who can just supply the part I need. I'm sure it would work out a hell of a lot cheaper!

PS I have found some on EBay, but the one I need is from the US and the seller seems funny with his payment options.

i start my new job monday as engineer to a laptop repairs and 2nd hand parts company.

can you supply me some details of what you need, ie the part number if you have it stripped off. i know they have a pile of broken LCD screens still in the lids, so they will have invertors in them im hoping.

Yeah, no probs.

It's an Acer TravelMate 4050, with a 15" screen. I think the part number is 19.T70V5.001, although it could also be pk070018500, I'm not entirely sure which one's correct, they may be the same.

the LCD inverter that i've got just disconnects from the LCD so it should just be a swap over job

Yep, exactly my reason for not wanting to send it away... Not sure exactly how much it could cost, but I bet its a whole lot more than just buying a replacement inverter!

having a quick look on there ebay shop they seem to go for £40 with a 7 day DOA warranty, chance is i can get this pushed to a month, and the £40 is including delivery.

if £40 is ok i will have a dig around monday, they have a couple from other acer lappys on there http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Laptop-Specialists-ReSale

i got told he just got me about 30 working IBM thinkpad t40-41's to break for spares, i get the feeling that ebay page is going to be busy next week

I hope your first day went well!

I spoke to the laptop owner today, and found out they have already placed an order through a different supplier for the inverter.

Really appreciated your help though. I actually cover a quite a few sites, so have saved your shop info for future reference. Will definately come in useful. Where are you based?
