My Sharkoon haven't been as silent as I hoped. I tested them out of the case before installing and noticed some noise. In the case they are quieter due to other noise.

Yate Loons are good but I think Silencio_777 has stopped trading?

Noctua seem to be the Silentpcreview current champ.

Edit: looks like Silencio's back after doing a disappearing act for a little while

I've used the silverstone Fm121 series for years & they are great. But It would be better if they had a 3pin option, have modded most of mine so they can fit a fan controller. Had originally drilled a drive facing plate & mounted 4 of the s/stone control knobs on it, but i'm looking more to auto fan control which really means 3 pin. I like yates(winebar as well) but have found them hard to get. will note that supply thank's clunk

I got a pait of the Zalman 120mm kits from Scan (£5~6 quid each) while my panaflos were in the post and I still have them in, they can push the air if needed, they work well and I cant hear them, unbeatable for the money IMO.

My x2 is at 240 1:1 with core temps at 30~40c and case temps mid 20's with just the two 120's (1 in 1 out).

silverstone ones - bit pricey but if you get a temp problem you can whack them up and they cool well (5 of them at full can be noisy though!

Scythe fans are now sold at scan and are very quiet - comparable with Nexus & Yate Loons. SPCR have started using them as reference fans I believe.

Downside is they are damned expensive.

I got a 120mm Papst off Ebay a while back that aparently gives off 120cfm and I have to say that even when it is turned down to around 7v, it is seriously loud. The motor makes a kind of howelling sound with a bizarre whirring as well, and then there is the whooshing of the air. It didnt come with any connectors on the wires either.

Yours for a fiver inc postage

Seriously, I'd grab a Sharkoon Golf Ball 2000. In my experience, unlike the SilenX ranges, they don't lie about performance:noise levels, and it's very reasonable - perhaps slightly a touch on the loud side depending on environment, but it does have good performance for that noise, and if you really need it quieter, stick a Zalman Fanmate on the end of it or something and tune it to your liking.

Easier than getting a slow fan and needing more performance.

Just found out Scan stock the Noctua fans. These won the SPCR roundup of 120mm fans.

From the SPCR forums - a guy had a noise issue with the Noctua fan he received and he contacted the manufacturer. They're sending him a replacement fan and he can keep the original. That's good customer service.
