I just paid fourteen quid for a 'Speed Pad' in grey and it's, er, so-so

Wish I'd gone for the Icemat now.

I'm using an MX700 and the only reason I decided to use a mouse mat is that the veneer on my desk is starting to wear, so that's one good reason for using a mat with an optical mouse.

I got one of those ... although mine didn't cost anything (review samples ... they sent us a bunch one day, lol)

I got the grey one and love it ... add a low friction mouse and your flying. TBH I like ball mice better than optical ones, I used to play in the UT2003 Pro Leagues and I used a ball mouse, found it more accurate than and optical mouse ... and guess what - Boomslang, although using Optical technology, is a ball mouse. Only downside is they do have higher friction, but you can just get your muscles a little bigger and your fine!

I've got a black IceMat, and it's lovely. It's so smooth with my mouse (Cordless Mouseman Optical) it's almost sexual, and it shows up how dodgy the older optical wireless mice can be sometimes. On the whole it's pretty cool though.
