Yeh but the problem is i cant download it as all mirrors but the China one is down and China goes at 4kbp's and usualy crashes.
Im in need of the software also.

seem to remember that you can't flash back using the windows flash utility on Asus boards, but can using the DOS based version. That was a couple of years back though, so things might have changed. Worth looking into if you want to go to a previous version.
ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/flash
Im only getting 10k from it at the moment, but itll get there eventually.
if you get stuck, I can email it to you or something.
Hi clunk,
thanks will try that. Started getting same bsods with the 6800. Ran memtest again overnight after orthos failed within 1hr 20min. memtest ran faultlessly. Have disconnected 2 hd tody & run just with my 2 raid drives & seagate 320gb.
Checked both xp installs raid & seagate & that serial device problem icon appears in both.
So I'm certain PSU is ok Etasis ET850 850W
reasonably happy with memory.
Have tried various permutations & thanks largely to your advice made some improvement in stability.
But after a week of tweaking with a new board, can't really say i have that much more reliabilty .
Have just d/loaded an older set of HIS ati drivers will try them & the ones you have. If they don't give an improvement i think it's return time again.
I'm assuming it's the mobo & not cpu ??
thanks 4 your input great clocks btw with your 4300:mrgreen:
cheers
Version i got last night was V7.09.02 in the options there is one to allow backward flash. The other flash options EZ Flash & efudos (got to be careful if i spelt that right:mrgreen: ) have no options to enable backward flash. The other option aflash that's on the dvd will only work with bin files not rom files. I know this has the option to backward flash. So am pretty stumped.
No worries mate, I was just mentioning the psu because I was running out of ideas :lol:
Something else I remembered..
On earlier bios versions, this board seemed to like the pci-e frequency setting to be set to 101, and some bioses prefered 100 or 105, so thats something to have mess with, at the moment, its on auto.
Is the 8 pin power cable in properly (sorry :D)
Failing that, do you have some other ddr2 that you can put in to test with? If not, Ive got a 256mb stick that you can borrow to try, I know thats ok because I ran memtest on it the other night when I was bored.
EZFlash will reliably 'backwards' flash. It will load whatever BIOS is loaded at the root of the volume it finds (Floppy, USB stck, CD) but the BIOS has to have the correct name for the motherboard (COMMANDO.ROM for the Commando, or M2V.ROM for the M2V motherboard).
Hehe:D me 2.Quote:

Have actioned the pci-e have been @100~101 now @103 which now u mention it is the speed dfi st always recommended. Have swapped out of the drivers your running with have had around 3 bsods 8e gfx related in last 90min or so (3rd attempt at this post lol).Pretty artistic with the pink block:D all these feed back from ms error reporting as gfx sourced
Thanks 4 offer of memory. one last thing to try is
a) running in other pair.
b) trying single channel with 1 module.
but like i say have not had a specific error with memory, only around 1 page fault error in last 2 days. have tweaked memory voltage 1 notch above what i was testing with last night, just as an added safeguard.
Have run with the 8pin although i thought of using the 4pin 1 the commando has an 8pin socket but a plastic blocking plate which u remove to use 8pin. 8pin should be better from a psu point of bview as the cpu then has access to poer from both the cpu0 & cpu1 which are usually on seperate 12v rails.Quote:

Hi Edmund thats what i thought till a few days ago, had been switching quite happily backwards & forwards between 601 & 702, can now only switch between 0801-Bta & 0803
trying 2 flash back to 601 from 801
Was looking for a workround to this.via the other flashing options. Not keen on doing it in xp for obvious reasons atm anyway :D
Oh well no bsaod's yet on the HIs gfx drivers, but still there's time. :D
That was one thing I forgot about, trying the ither ram slots. The yellow ones on this are the good ones.
lol which are the yellow ones:lol: :mrgreen: difficult to see as i've got my cooler on them. there in slot1 (nearesr cpu) & 3 atm. touch wood it's still running nice & quite, whilst i'm browsing & running overdue virus scan (usually have it scheduled) have been 2 busy testing lately.
Nearest the cpu is yellow, then black, then yellow, then black. I think they are white and blue on yours, so its just something else to add to the confusion :lol:
It would be funny if its a virus after all this :D
Yep sounds familiar:mrgreen:Quote:
white and blue on yours
Assuming i can get a scan finished on this. Just bsod again But...... was a driver 7e one not gfx related, so maybe ????? we have broken the run of those with the higher bus rate & new drivers.Quote:

Today 01:10 AM
You probablly tried, but can you go back from 803 to 702 and then from 702 to 601?
Yes u can't do it anyway:-
Bioses are:-
0601 - D12/22/06
0702 - D01/12/07
0801 - D01/25/07
0803 - D01/30/07
0801 & 0803 are shown as Flashtype = Windbond W25P/X80
not sure what 2 earlier versions were. Given the message it's almost like the Coomando has a Model Date between 01/12/07 & 01/25/07 & reckons early versions aren't valid.
Anyway so far today has been about best only 4 Bsods. Tested cpu overnight with Orthos small ffts it only ran for about 20min & bsod. Ran the Orthos Gromaks core which ran till i interupted it 4 around 4hrs didn't look particularly stressful so started back to small ffts which ran 4 2.5hrs b4 bsod kicked in.
Left it running virus check for a couple of hours (usually takes around 4hrs) Mcaffee had an error in "html Dialogue box" & terminated. Have upped the pci-e to 205.
Did you say that itll run orthos at stock everything?
Hell No:mrgreen:Quote:

I've donre the following:-
PCI-E Bus - 105
memory :-
DDR 800
Main = 4,4,4,4,12
Sub = 6,42,10,10,10, 12
Vdimm = 2.175 (1000 = 2.2~2.3v)
SB VCore = 1.50
SB Chipset 1.050
NB Vcore 1.25
CPU= All disabled
Above with 0801-BTA - Won't run as stable in 0803 .
Running with X1900 back in - HIS gfx + 105 seem 2 have helped a lot.
Results last night was cpu tests in orthos only, wanted to complete virus scan , was reasonably sure it would be ok, but that's now clear.
Will leave orthos blend running overnight.
