M/b & Rdram..
Hi
I have Asus P4T-E i850 chipset M/B.
Bios Revision 1007E.
This M/B has 4 184-pin RIMM sockets (2sockets for each channel, A&B)
I have installed 2x128MB, total 256MB PC800 RDRAMs. (This type of RAM has to be installed in pairs for i850 M/Bs)
If I install another 2x256MB RDRAMs, will they work giving a total of 768MB of RAM, or do all 4 RDRams have to be the same? (4x128) or 4x256)
The maximum memory for this M/B is 2GB.

Retroborg,
I'd suggest checking your bios manual there is likely to be a diagram of your memory setups, which shows what will and won't work.
I'd guess it probably would work, but i know that the i850 chipset was a very weird beast esp with RDRAM.
If you can't find your manual there will be an online one on the asus web site.
Hope this helps

Here it says:
http://www.intel.com/support/motherb...ktop/rdram.htm
In other words, I have 4 slots,
Rimm1, 2 = Bank0.
Rimm3, 4 = Bank1.
Bank 0 has to have mem that is equal in size and speed.
Example 2x 256meg PC800 etc
Bank 1 has to have mem that is the same size (but does not have to be the same size as bank0) and speed (which has to be the same as bank0)
Example 2x 128meg (or whatever size you want) I MUST be equal to bank0 which is PC800 etc
But in the ASUS manual it says:
"The memory configuration of Channel A (RIMMA1 & RIMMA2) and Channel B (RIMMB1 & RIMMB2) must be identical"
So that comes as an opposition to what is written in the Intel site!?
I'm confused now.
So basically if the Intel site is right, I just have to make sure not to mix PC800 with PC800E & PC800A in the 2 channels/banks. (Of course the size & speed must be equal in each channel/bank separately)
What's the speed for PC800 & PC800E & PC800A?
