I planned on having an all sata rig for my next build but recently read that you cant boot from a sata optical drive.
I had never heard of this before and have assumed that you
would be able to.
What I want to know most is can I use a sata optical drive to install windows XP (SP2 version) like I would with an IDE one.
It works fine on my PC, XP SP2 with maxtor sata's
Works Fine on my ASUS Commando. Drive is Samsung SH-S183A

Hmm...windows can be a problem to install, for me SP1 worked but SP2 didn't...still not sure why(nor care):mrgreen:, possibly sata drivers?.
SP2 generally does not require you to press F6 and load SATA drivers at the beginning of the install - did not with 2 new ASUS (Commando and M2V) i recently bought.
