On my Asus A7N8X if you use a factory default mulitplier and bus speed then it picks upon the chip type an displays it:

So if its 12.5 x 166 is shows as an XP2600

if its 11 x 133 its an XP1700

But if you deviatefrom it, then it shows the CLOCK SPEED.....

10 x 166 = 1666 XP

but the odd exception is running 12.5 x 180 (my current default thanks to my Mushkin) where it CONTINUES to show XP2600+

even though What Clock speed confirms my 2250 cpu speed.

Yep, i love this.

What it is, it's an oversight by the original designers saying stuff like "64k is enough for anyone" and " Cars carn't go faster than 20 miles an hour without a red flag"..

No matter what speed is reported on boot i would say that there is definately no disadvantage performance wise.

yeah, that caught me out when I first tried overclocking my system. Just another side-effect of the damned MHz war AMD and Intel insist on playing *sigh*

I was always one for the rating system.... if it ment joe bloggs bought AMD over Intel that was good enough for me

Still it would of been better if they brought back the train through the office advert just to inform everyone that clock for clock etc..
