Problem with Asus P5N32-E SLI build-in Sound in Games

I just build a new system with the Asus P5N32-E SLI motherboard, Core2Duo E6400, 7950GT 512, 1Gb OCZ 5-5-12 DDR2-800, Philips 5.1 speakers.

I installed WinXP SP2 and did a full update from Microsoft.
I also installed the newest graphics and motherboard-chipset drivers from Nvidia and the soundcard drivers from the cd that came with the board (which are the latest).

When I do a soundtest using the installed sound panel of the ADI 1988B soundchip on the motherboard, all 5 speakers and subwoofer work perfectly.
But when I start any game that uses EAX (no matter what version) or A3D, the game reports that my machine does not support either and I am stuck with just 2 channel sound. (I tried Half Life, Half Life 2, Doom 3, Serious Sam, Serious Sam 2).

I checked out the ADI 1988B soundchip specifications on the ADI website, it states that it supports EAX 1.0, 2.0 and A3D.
I found that the ADI 1988B soundchip supports EAX and A3D in software, so it might be a driver problem, but a re-download of the drivers from the Asus website and multiple reinstalles of the drivers did nothing.
I only get 2 channel sound in games.

Anyone can offer any help?

Have you only tried drivers from the Asus website? Chances are they are quite old drivers (they don't update their site very often!). Try going directly to the Analogue Devices website and getting the latest driver set :)

Thnx for the suggestion Suman, that was the second thing I did after reloading from Asus.
However, in the donwload section of the Analogue Devices website I am being redirected to Asus...
They say they don't provide drivers to end-users, as the board manufacturers do that for them.

Oh ok bummer, didn't know about that :( do the problems only occur in EAX games? Are things like DVD 5.1 audio fine?

You know, in all the excitement, i haven't tried that :O_o1:

But in order to prevent myself having another lenghty troubleshooting session, I have decided to disable the ADI 1988B in bios and install an SB Audigy I still have.

That should solve all problems and as an extra I will have a game-port again, so I can hook up my Thrustmaster Flightsticks.
