New GFX card meand new PSU

Hi all,
I just bought an X1900XTX, and haven't got the juice in my current system to power it. My system:
A64 3000+
X1900XTX 512
2 x Samsung SpinPoint HDDs
LiteOn DVD-RW
Pair of cold cathodes on same inverter


It's all air cooled but I want room to add watercooling too on the voltage. I also want room for the possibility of going C2D, adding another HDD, and for an X-Fi sound card.

So, can anyone tell me what order of PSU I need? I've been looking at 500+

The Corsair PSU's are very good. Lots of amps on the 12V rails. 520W is £70.
The Thermaltake Toughpower 600W is also very good. Approx. £60.
The Xclio psu's arent quite as high quality but excellent value and reasonably reliable.

The TT PSUs arent great TBH...They have raised their game but are notorious for producing poor units.

The XCLIO's are good also but for the price the 3 above are better choices.
Flewis...i dont know where you got the 'reasonably reliable' statement from as the XCLIO range are very reliable.

All im trying to say is that TT have a VERY chequered reputation whereas the others have a better proven track record.

Why risk it when there is better around.

yep, theres "..." in the links, just use the productid and find them.
xclio ones are good and so are corsair, thermaltake are last on my list.

Anyone think a 480w PSU would be too low? The calculator came out with 400w for my rig plus some future improvements (wallet willing)

i'd never buy psu stuff off ebay, say its faulty and you try it and it blows all your other components, then what do you do?

i'd say go for the Xclio ones or Coolermasters, also if you prefer Tagans then there are some in your price range at scan.

XCLIO 'Greatpower' and 'GoodPower' are exce3llent quality for mid -low range systems.

They are very very popular in the USA market.

XCLIO = meridian, who are a large European OEM/distributer. They often buy from similar OEMs to other makers, such as channel wall tech.

yep the 14cm fan is one of the reasons i chose it, more airflow at same level of sound, plus a site that reviewed them showed their volts stayed within tight range at high loads and the efficiency is over 80% at all times of load.
